Sweden - Svealand - Uppsala

Old Uppsala

Gamla Uppsala is located at approximately 5 km in the north of the current city. It is one of the most imposing archeological sites of Sweden. At the begining, Uppsala was built on this site but after the fire of the old cathedral, the city was moved. One finds there 3 royal hillocks and the hillock of the Parliament (Tingshögen) and also 250 to 300 tombs. They date from the Viking era.
