Vaxholm

Vaxholm is a small town of 8500 inhabitants in the North-East of Stockholm and is located on an island. It occupied formerly a significant strategic position at the entry of the channel which is going to Stockholm. A fortress, whose construction began in 1548 under the direction of king Gustav Vasa and finish in 1863 controls the access of it. This fortress but also fishing allowed the development of Vaxholm.
